Plymouth’s waters hold a wealth of marine life. As a brand with our heart on the sea, we feel strongly about protecting the ocean and the wildlife that call it home. The newly protected Eddystone Reef, just offshore from Plymouth, once damaged by unregulated fishing is now home to  sea anemones, cup corals as well as a multitude of sea creatures. Princess and the Marine Conservation Society (MCS) are working together to protect and sustain marine environments for future generations, including supporting the ongoing protection of the Eddystone Reef as well as marine conservation efforts across the globe.

Following great success in the motor yacht market in the early 1970s Princess Yachts, then known as Marine Projects (Plymouth) Ltd, joined forces with acclaimed British sailing yacht builders Moody Yachts. Over the course of a successful 30 year partnership Princess and Moody together developed almost 40 new models and manufactured over 4,000 fiberglass sailing yachts alongside the Princess motor yacht range. 

The first in a new generation of designs by Bernard Olesinski, built to meet the demand for larger and faster craft, the Princess 30DS was one of the most iconic Princess yachts from the 1980s with more than 500 sold between 1981 and 1989. This yacht marked the beginnings of a design relationship with Olesinski that continues to the present day. 

Innovation has always been at the heart of Princess. The first ever Princess sports yacht to hit the market, the 286 Riviera, was launched in 1983. This ground-breaking model broke the mould of traditional Princess yacht design and marked the beginnings of the successful series of high-speed sports cruisers built throughout the 1980s and 1990s. 

The mid-1990s marked the launch of the first V Class sport yachts, the V39. Exceptional performance and design contributed to the success of this range which still continues today. Discover the current range of V Class sports yachts here. 

1996 saw the introduction of the first of the new Metre-class range, the Princess 20 Metre. The range included successful models such as the 25 Metre, which became the largest yacht ever to be built at Princess when it was launched in 2001, and the 23 Metre which achieved quasi-superyacht status thanks to her vast full-length flybridge. 

The first Princess M Class superyacht, the 32M, made her debut appearance at London Boat Show in 2011. A year later Princess made history with the launch of our largest vessel to date, and the biggest composite motor yacht to ever be built in Britain, the World Superyacht Award wining Princess 40M.
