Princess Yachts are currently recruiting for an interim Carpentry Instructor to work at our Newport Street site in Plymouth.

Temporary role
Main Purpose of Role
To establish training programmes to be delivered in house, ensuring competency with hourly paid employees.
To support the PY Apprenticeship scheme
Responsibilities/ Tasks
Construct, Organise and deliver Modules of training to new and existing employees in order to meet the training schedule.
Liaise with New Starters and introduce them to their 4 week Familiarisation Training programme to include training and assessing for competence.
Ensure Modules are structured in the PYL format liaising with other departments as necessary.
During the trial period of new employees liaise with Departmental managers to review progress and to ensure continuity of best practice from training programmes to shop floor.
Liaise with Departmental managers with regard to organising training for existing employees in a modular format, in the training centre or via tool box talks. Aim is to improve skills of employees and quality of boats.
Train, Support and mentor the Apprentice programme.
Carry out induction training, trade tests and enhance existing programmes.
Recognise those that are poor performers, highlighting to HR so performance improvement plans can be drawn up and issued.
Liaise with areas such as Development, Engineering and quality to ensure modules are correct in technical detail, updated as and when required via Work Instructions and any trends that could lead to training identified.
Ensure records are completed and retained on completion of programmes/courses ensure copies to Training administrator for recording purposes.
Maintain regular contact with the Training manager
Acting as an Ambassador for Princess Yachts, operating with integrity and drive appropriate to the Company’s values, to promote Princess as a market leader.

Person Specification
Ability to communicate verbally and in writing to all levels throughout the business
Have knowledge of the company and its manufacturing processes
Have excellent Carpentry knowledge both practical and written
Presentation skills – be able to format and instruct confidently on generic modules
Have already obtained Instructor status with formal qualifications or be prepared to undertake if required
IT literate
Must be able to work on own initiative and be self motivated/disciplined
