Job Family: HS&E

5 day week (finish at 12.30pm Friday)

39hrs per week

Salary banding - £35-38k per annum

 

The Environmental and Sustainability Business Partner will support the Environmental and Compliance Manager within their function, with a primary focus on practical implementation of environmental and sustainability initiatives and campaigns. The role will look to drive positive behavioural change amongst the workforce, promote best practice and ensure the company stay legally compliant whilst supporting the management of the company’s ISO 14001-2015 (Environmental Management System) accreditation.

 

The person will act as an Ambassador for Princess Yachts, operating with integrity and drive appropriate to the Company’s values, to promote Princess as a market leader.

 

Responsibilities/ Tasks

Operational:

  • Support with the management and delivery of the company’s ISO 14001-2015 accreditation; conducting site environmental inspections and audits.
  • Ensure compliance with environmental legislation, checking updates regularly using the Legislation Update Service (LUS).
  • Monitoring and manage sites environmental permits and associated reporting.
  • Provide front line support to the company and key stakeholders on environmental and sustainability queries and questions.
  • Proactively liaise with Site Directors, departments, workforce and key stakeholders to promote the Resource and Waste Management Strategy.
  • Work with the company’s waste contractor to develop and implement projects and initiatives linked to the Waste Hierarchy to help save money, reduce environmental impact and stay legally compliant.
  • Proactively liaise with Site Directors, departments and workforce to promote positive energy management and assist with achieving reduction targets set through Climate Change Agreements.
  • Proactively liaise with Site Directors, departments and workforce to promote positive water management and assist with implementing water conservation projects.
  • Assist with compliance of trade effluent consents across all sites.
  • Support with the development of the company’s Green Travel Plan.
  • Assist with the development and running of environmental training programmes to improve knowledge and understanding across the company.
  • Develop educational material and resources (including tool box talks and company briefs) to support training programmes.
  • Complete weekly and monthly reports and supply information/data for inclusion in the yearly Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) company report.

Health and Safety:

  • Ensure H&S compliant at all times
  • Develop and review Risk Assessments as required
  • Support and raise Hazard Identification reports helping the reduction in accident levels.
  • Help to keep the workplace tidy and organised ensuring targeted 6S standards are met at all times

Strategic Interface:

  • Liaise with the HS&E team (including Safety, Health and Environment Business Partners and associated Safety Representatives) to ensure environmental and sustainability requirements for the company are clearly communicated.
  • Liaise with all Site Directors, associated managers and production workforce to improve knowledge and understanding on sustainability and promote best practice.
  • Liaise with Finance Business Partner to understand budgets and costs associated with environmental and sustainability initiatives.
  • Liaise with the Procurement Team to green the supply chain and support sustainable procurement.
  • Liaise with the Learning and Development Department to develop environmental and sustainability training courses and resources.

Person Specification

 

Essential

  • First or upper second-class honours degree in an appropriate environmental/ sustainability subject (e.g. Environmental Science/Management, Marine Science)
  • Knowledge of environmental legislation
  • Competent using Microsoft Office Products (Word, Excel, Outlook, Powerpoint)
  • Project Management skills – able to plan, organise and lead projects
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Experience in running sustainability campaigns and initiatives
  • Implementation of positive behavioural change programmes
  • Good at problem solving and supportive at a practical level
  • Proactive with attention to detail and quality
  • Confident and enthusiastic
  • Good time management
  • Ability to work under own initiative or part of a team
  • Good team building skills with ability to liaise with a wide range of people

 

Desirable

  • Member of Institute of Environmental Management Assessment (IEMA)
  • Experience with ISO 14001-2015
  • Lead auditor
  • Training qualification (e.g. Preparing to Teach in Life Long Learning Sector – PTLLS)
  • IOSH Managing Safely trained
  • Experience dealing with regulatory bodies (e.g. Environment Agency, Local Authorities and Marine Coast Guard Agency).
  • Experience dealing with utility companies and implementation of projects associated with energy and water conservation.
  • Experience of trade effluent consents
  • Experience within the manufacturing or marine sector
